Ötztal - the Eldorado for all rock sports enthusiasts
Step by step closer to heaven
The Ötztal is THE (granite) climbing region par excellence in Tyrol. In no other valley are fantastic climbing areas and via ferratas as close together as in the Ötztal. In 19 climbing gardens you can live out your urge for the vertical on about 750 routes. 8 via ferratas and an abundance of multi-pitch tours make you fit on the rock. This is ensured not least by the certified and local climbing & mountain guides who accompany you on your way up. The enormous climbing competence of the region is also expressed in the specialized climbing accommodations.
In no other valley in Tyrol are fantastic climbing areas as well as via ferratas as close together as in the Ötztal. The valley is one of the granite climbing areas in Tyrol and, with its nearly 750 routes in 19 different climbing gardens, holds a rich palette in all degrees of difficulty. Climbing history was made here by Reinhard Schiestl, who opened the first nines in Tyrol in the early 80s.
Whether families with children or hard movers, in the Ötztal everyone gets their money's worth when climbing. To list all the highlights of climbing gardens, via ferratas and outdoor activities here would go beyond the scope. The best thing to do is to come to Ötztal for climbing and simply print out the topo of your preferred climbing garden already at home.
There are certified, family-friendly climbing gardens in the Ötztal: Oberried in the municipality of Längenfeld is an idyllic spot and perfectly secured, with picnic areas and a toilet. A visit with the whole family is always worthwhile.
Perfect for sport climbing for all levels is the Engelswand in Tumpen. A comfortable approach and even several multi-pitch tours are located in the climbing garden.
Secured along a continuous wire rope, the 8 via ferratas of the Ötztal (steep) go up. Along the way, you'll cross rope bridges, climb along waterfalls and negotiate ladders. Beginner-friendly via ferrata routes that are perfectly suited and secured for children, such as those along the Stuibenfall - Tyrol's largest waterfall - provide a playful introduction to this sporting adventure, while experts and connoisseurs will find spectacular opportunities on the Burgsteinwand near Längenfeld or in the rear Ötztal.
