When snowshoeing in Niederthai, you will discover - ideally accompanied by a hiking guide - the enchanting winter world of the Ötztal off the beaten track. Make your tracks in the freshly fallen snow, observe shy wild animals and enjoy a hearty Tyrolean snack at one of the huts! Guided winter hikes and snowshoe hikes in the Ötztal can be booked at the Niederthai ski school or at your BIO pension "der Veitenhof".

Tour 1: Family tour - Tauferberg: The hike starts in Niederthai at the "Tauferberg Rundweg", continues into the impressive Tauferberg forest, past huge boulders and game feeding areas to the Mauslasattel. From there the trail leads back slightly descending. Easy beginner's tour - also suitable for children. Duration: approx. 2 hours.

Tour 2: Into the quiet high valley: Directly from the village of Ennebach a forest path leads in the direction of Grastal. After about 30 minutes of walking, the hiking trail branches off and leads somewhat steeper up to the idyllic and largely untouched Grastal. At the beginning of the Grastal, the tour can be continued individually - either you walk a bit further into the Grastal or choose the steeper path to the Brand with a wonderful view of the Ötztal mountains (medium to difficult tour). Duration: 3-6 hours - depending on the choice of route.

Winter hiking

On the high plateau of Niederthai and in the region Ötztal-Mitte you will find numerous cleared winter walking trails with a wonderful panorama. Rustic huts, sun terraces and snack stations invite you to a cozy stop.

Winter hiking trail Niederthai- Bergmahderweg- Larstigalm

From the information office in Niederthai turn left over the bridge through the Sennhof district in the direction of the "Bergmahderweg". This leads above the Horlachtal to the Larstigalm and is a perfect panoramic path. Return possible on foot or with the toboggan. Duration: 2 h, 270 hm, 6,85 km

Winter hiking trail Niederthai- Wiesle

From the information office Niederthai you go right through the districts Ennebach - Überfeld - Lehen. At the soccer field you go left through the forest over the Mauslassattel downhill to the Jausenstation Wiesle (not managed in winter). Duration: 1 h, 90 hm, 2,66 km
