On your snowshoe adventure in Niederthai, preferably accompanied by a guide, you will discover the enchanting winter world of the Ötztal, far from the usual paths. Leave your mark in the freshly fallen snow, observe elusive wildlife, and enjoy a hearty Tyrolean snack at one of the mountain huts! Guided winter hikes and snowshoe excursions in the Ötztal can be booked at the Niederthai ski school or at your BIO-Pension "der Veitenhof".
Tour 1: Family Tour – Tauferberg: The hike begins in Niederthai at the "Tauferberg Round Trail," leading into the impressive Tauferberg forest, past gigantic rock formations and wildlife feeding areas up to the Mauslasattel. The return path descends gently. This easy beginner tour is also suitable for children. Duration: approximately 2 hours.
Tour 2: Into the Quiet High Valley: From the Ennebach district, a forest path leads towards Grastal. After about 30 minutes of walking, the trail branches off and ascends more steeply to the idyllic and largely untouched Grastal. At the beginning of the valley, the tour can be continued individually – either by venturing further into Grastal or choosing the steeper path to Brand, offering stunning views of the Ötztal mountain range (medium to difficult tour). Duration: 3-6 hours, depending on the route chosen.
On the high plateau of Niederthai and in the Ötztal-Mitte region, you will find numerous cleared winter walking paths with breathtaking panoramas. Rustic huts, sun terraces, and snack stations invite you to take a cozy break.
From the Niederthai information office, cross the bridge to the left through the Sennhof district towards the "Bergmahderweg." This path leads above the Horlachtal to the Larstigalm and is a perfect panoramic route. Return on foot or with a sled is possible. Duration: 2 hours, 270 meters elevation gain, 6.85 km
From the Niederthai information office, head right through the districts of Ennebach – Überfeld – Lehen. At the football field, turn left through the forest down the Mauslasattel to the Wiesle snack station (not open in winter). Duration: 1 hour, 90 meters elevation gain, 2.66 km
